Jess Friedel, owner and maker of Hive To Hand is a Northwest Arkansas native. Jess has a long-term relationship with the arts. At her kindergarten graduation, she proudly announced she planned on being a “starving artist” one day. Dancing through childhood, singing and doodling along the way, Jess continues to delve into finding what feels good artistically.

By the grace of God, patience and support from her husband and family, Jess worked hard to earn two completely separate degrees. This allows Jess to show love and compassion to young children as a teacher, and delve even further into art by getting her hands into cutting, styling and coloring hair.

Hive to Hand began in May 2019 as a fun DIY gift for the annual family reunion. From there, it blossomed into a never-ending creative outlet. The name “The Hive” stems from the purchase of the Friedel’s first home. Upon purchase, they shared their dreams of one day owning bees, having an ample garden, and creating a space where people can always feel welcome and leave smiling. Hive to Hand made perfect sense when deciding to create a business of goods to go directly into the community Jess so loves and is involved in. Whether it be honey, garden goodies, or handmade items, Jess wanted “The Hive” to be a place of growing, creativity, and happiness. You could say it is Jess’s continual drive to try something new, or the long time dream of being an artist coming to fruition.

When Jess isn’t spending time in her garden with her wonderful husband, hosting meals and meets with friends and family, or working as a school teacher, she is creating. Whether it be on hair or jewelry, Jess has the ability to make magic come to life. Her passion for people shines through all the work she takes on, and her love of Christ comes through in all forms of her crafts.

You will often hear Jess say the words “homegrown happiness” or “handmade happiness”. Hive to Hand hopes our little handmade goodies bring you happiness. We so appreciate your support of our small business and big dreams. We promise we will continue to create new, quality handmade items for you, and we look forward to the growth that is to come. Remember: like our pieces, you are each beautiful and uniquely made.
